Uganda’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ochola Okoth has urged Ugandans to arrest errant police officers.
The IGP made the remarks on Wednesday while addressing the nation on the state of security in the country.
“Officers going to arrest suspects should identify themselves and give them reason for the arrest. If they arrest people in a cruel manner, you civilians can also arrest them. If you fear them because they are armed, stone them,” he said.
He revealed that the force has made strides in trying to contain kidnaps.
“We have established a 24/7 emergency centre in which cases of kidnap must be reported immediately, the toll free numbers which the public can call when someone is kidnapped, they are 0800199990, 0800199991and 0800199992,” the IGP revealed
