Arsenal To Train Ugandan Coaches

The State Minister in-charge of Sports, Charles Bakkabulindi has revealed that English Premier League side, Arsenal FC have accepted to train Ugandan coaches and also build an academy in the country.

He told local news agency, URN at the National Council of Sports (NCS) headquarters in Lugogo on Monday, Bakkabulindi said some of the officials from NCS and the Ministry held meetings with Arsenal in London last month and the discussions were fruitful.

” Our officials had successful meetings with Arsenal Football Club and they have decided they will train coaches and also build an Academy,” added Bakkabulindi.

He said a lot more will be revealed in March this yet when the Arsenal officials travel to Uganda to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Bakkabulindi explained that putting up a well established academy in Uganda will help develop football better in the country and also the training of coaches will help them develop and spot talent better in the country. ” Football is a big sport that is very marketable and this explains why we are thinking big to have partnerships,” he added.
