UNRA boss, Allen Kagina
The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has blamed the poor state of roads being experienced across the country to underfunding of the Authority’s maintenance unit .
The revelation was made by Allen Kagina, the UNRA Executive Director while appearing before the Parliament’s Physical Infrastructure Committee chaired Nakifuma county mp Eng.Robert Kafero Ssekitoreko.
Kagina’s explanation came after some of the committee members including Ntoroko County MP, Ibanda Rwemulikye, Bugabula south MP, Henry Kibalya raised issues related to impassable roads and unattended to bridges across the country.
They called on UNRA to find ways of maintaining roads in good shape.
In response, Kagina told the committee members that UNRA requires Shs110bn to work on the poor roads across the country.
