Raj Kumar Meena Resigns As Bank of Baroda Uganda Managing Director

Raj Kumar Meena has quit Bank of Baroda as Managing Director

The Board of Directors of Bank of Baroda (Uganda) Limited has informed its shareholders and the general public that Raj Kumar Meena has resigned as the Managing Director of the Company effective 15th March 2023.

This website understands that Meena will be replaced by Shashi Dhar who was recruited a month ago-subject to completion of all related regulatory approvals.

Raj Kumar Meena was appointed as Bank of Baroda Managing Director on  April 01, 2020. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, a Post Graduate with Executive MBA in Human Resource Management and is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.

Meena joined Bank of Baroda, India on June 01,1992.

He has a rich and varied banking experience of over 30 years in various capacities and functional areas such as Regional Head, Assistant General Manager State Level Bankers Committee, Chief Manager Regional Business Development, Chief Manager Branch Operations, Training Center Head, Lead District Manager and Branch Head in India before taking up his present assignment as Managing Director.

During his time at Bank of Baroda Uganda, Meena grew the bank and kept it profitable. Bank of Baroda was the 5th most profitable bank in Uganda in 2021 after its  profit grew by 8.23% to Shs90.23bn, up from Shs83.37bn recorded a year earlier.

The bank’s total assets grew to Shs2.18 trillion in 2021, up from Shs2.11 trillion in 2020, while its customer deposits grew from Shs1.57 trillion to Shs1.59 trillion over the same period.

Meena also saw the bank’s loans advanced to customers grow to Shs942.09bn in 2021, up from Shs833.5bn in 2020.
