NSSF Partners With Payway To Ease Social Security Contributions

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has announced a partnership with PayWay Uganda that will expand its social security contributions channels and enhance the contributions process efficiency.

PayWay Uganda is a global payment processing company, delivering its services through kiosks and a relatively wide agent network across the country.

According to the NSSF Head of Marketing and Communications, Barbra Arimi, the development is part of the Fund’s strategy to improve business processes especially in the area of contributions, by providing alternative, secure and convenient payment platforms for its members.

“For contributions payments, this platform can be used by both voluntary contributors under the NSSF Voluntary Contributions Plan as well as employers who remit less than shs4million in social security contributions per month,” Arimi said.

To make the payments, the process starts on the NSSF E-collections portal (a web based channel) where the employer uploads a schedule of the employees being contributed for with respective amounts. They then proceed to the PayWay booth, where they will select “NSSF”, input the Transaction Reference Number that will have been obtained from the e-collections portal and follow prompts to complete the transaction.

For individual payments, one only needs to input their NSSF number at the Payway booth and follow prompts to complete the transaction.

A receipt will be printed for the customer to complete the transaction and they will also receive an SMS from NSSF to their registered mobile phone with the Fund confirming receipt of their payment. Members’ accounts will be updated within 24 hours.

Lona Kamugisha, the PayWay Head of Commercial and Marketing said the integration of NSSF services on the PayWay platform will help NSSF Members access their services even beyond normal business hours through their 80 self-service kiosks at major outlets and at over 2500 agents countrywide
