Murder Suspect Mathew Kanyamunyu Granted Bail

Kampala City businessmen, Mathew Kanyamunyu who is charged with murder has been granted bail by the High Court.

According to The Independent, High Court judge Wilson Kwesiga Matthew granted Kanyamunyu bail on Wednesday and asked he deposits a sh10m cash bond, while his sureties sh10m each non cash bond.

It adds that Kanyamunyu was early this year indicted for the murder of social worker Kenneth Akena in November last year.  Prosecution says the deceased had knocked Kanyamunyu’s motor vehicle in the incident that occurred at Lugogo Forest Mall, along Jinja-highway in Kampala.

It was the the fourth bail application he had filed, after three previous failed attempts. Justices Elizabeth Kabanda and Yasin Nyanzi dismissed Kanyamunyu’s three previous attempts to gain his liberty,  citing overwhelming evidence the State intends to adduce against him.
