Kampala Parents’ School Registers Impressive PLE Results

Kampala Parents’ School (KPS) candidates passed 2019 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) with flying colours.

The results were released by Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on Friday at Kampala Parents’ School and the event was presided over by First Lady and Education Minister, Janet Museveni.

According to the results, KPS registered 172 First Grades while 54 passed in Second Division.

According to the breakdown of First Grades, 15 scored 4 aggregates, 16 had five aggregates and 22 candidates got six aggregates.

KPS Principal, Daphine Kato attributed the good performance on teachers who did a lot of research and teaching. She also praised the pupils for discipline and hardworking.

“I am grateful for this achievement, it is no mean achievement and I want to thank members of staff especially 2019 primary seven teachers, the well-disciplined pupils but above all school directors for providing everything on time,” Kato said.

The school is owned by city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia.

Dan Odong, the UNEB Executive Secretary said a total of 695,804 candidates from 13,475 centers sat the PLE in 2019. 473,893 accounting for 68.2 per cent were from Universal Primary Education (UPE) while 221,912 accounting for 31.8 per cent were from private centres.

He said that 51.7% of these were girls.

“This is the 5th time UNEB registers more girls compared to the boys in PLE Exams,” Odong said.

 Odong said at least 69,243 (10.1 percent) of the pupils who sat last year’s PLE passed in division one.

He added that 318,155 passed in second grade while 140,420 passed in third grade.

 “A total of 89,332 have passed in the fourth Division,” Odong said, adding that 66,152 candidates were ungraded.

There has been an overall improvement in English and Social Studies. The overall pass level of Science improved but there was a sharp decline in distinctions in the subject. Mathematics had a slight improvement, Odong said.
