UPDF Spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire on Sunday tweeted an apology after a picture made rounds on social media showing military officers roughing up a traffic police officer who blocked them from making a wrong U-turn.

“We have been informed of the incident involving a Police traffic Sergeant and UPDF military Police Soldiers. It is very regrettable and apologies to our Police Sister.UPDF and UPF are establishing the facts .Findings will guide action to be taken,” Karemire tweeted.

The military soldiers are bodyguards to Uganda’s Ambassador to Burundi, Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza.

Is this Maj. Gen Kyalingoza, an NRM CEC member the party I belong to? president who is also the Commander In Chief, father of nation,
revolutionary leader and NRM national chairman,
fearless commander, sebarwanyi should take disciplinary action against Maj. Gen Kyalingoza and his bodyguards for manhandling a police traffic officer. Nobody is above the law. Impunity has no room in our country. NRM liberated ugandans from the bad regimes where soldiers were untouchable. Let me open my eyes and ears for punitive measures to be taken.
