Lands Ministry Wants Shs7.6bn To Compensate Lusanja Land Owner Medard Kiconco, Businessman Dodovico Mwanje

President Museveni visited Ndeeba church after its demolition

The Ministry of Lands and Urban Development has asked Parliment to approve an additional funding of Shs7.6bn that will go towards compensating Medard Kiconco, the owner of the disputed  land in Lusanja and Dodovico Mwanje, a businessman  who owns the land that houses St. Peters Church in Ndeeba.

It should be remembered that the church was demolished last year and upon visiting the site, President Yoweri Museveni  promised to resolve the issue.

For the land in Lusanja, court in 2019 ruled that Kiconco was the rightful owner, leaving over 2000 residents homeless.

Betty Kamya, the Minister of Lands and Urban Development  says that Medard Kiconco  and Dodovico Mwanje have both accepted to be compensated by Government.

Kamya adds that the land was valued by the Government valuer, noting that Kiconco and Mwanje will each get about Shs3.8bn in compensation.
