Makerere University has suspended the issuance of transcripts and certificates over unclear reasons.
The decision was announced this evening on the University’s social media outlets without details on why the process was halted.
“All our stakeholders are hereby informed that collection of transcripts and certificates from the Senate Building in person is suspended until further notice,” the statement read, adding: “Management is working on alternative arrangements for issuance of all academic documents and will keep all our stakeholders informed.”
The development comes at the time Makerere University announced plans to conduct COVID-19 tests on its staff within the first week of September 2020.
Testing is set to commence at 9.00am and end at 2.00 pm.
Thereafter, testing will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week. Collection of samples for members of staff who wish to participate in the Makerere community survey testing will be done at the Freedom Square.
Vice Chancellor, Barnabas Nawangwe urged staff particularly the critical staff required to report for duty and all residing on University campus to take advantage of free testing.
