Filing and payment of final Income Tax, filing of provisional income tax returns, payment of provisional income tax and payment of any outstanding amounts that could be overdue to avoid further accumulation of interest are some of the tax obligations due by Wednesday June 30, 2021.
In a reminder to the taxpayers Thursday morning, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) asked taxpayers to file return(s) and make payments on time in an effort to “support the nation in these tough times.”
This as the Financial Year 2020/21 draws to an end.
The authority says all URA online platforms are readily available to provide extra support to the taxpayers.

UNDER THE INCOME TAX ACT:
Under the Income Tax Act, URA says:
a. Filing and payment of Final Income Tax by both individuals and non- individuals with the year of income ending on 31st December 2020.
b. Filing of Provisional Income Tax returns by non-individuals for the year ending 31st December 2021.
c. Payment of Provisional Income Tax for individuals for the;
1st installment for accounting date of 31st March.
2nd installment for accounting date of 31st December
3rd installment for accounting date of 30th September.
4th installment for accounting date of 30th June.
d. Payment of Provisional Income Tax for non-individuals for the;
1st installment for accounting date of 31st December
2nd installment for accounting date of 30th June.
e. Payment of any outstanding amounts that could be overdue to avoid further accumulation of interest.
2. Non-individuals pay provisional tax in two (2) half year installments while individuals pay in four (4) quarterly installments.
3. Rental tax is paid SEPARATELY from any other income tax.
“We encourage our valued taxpayers to use our online services to mitigate exposure to the
COVID-19 virus. We however remain available to offer services that cannot be accessed online,” part of URA’s statement reads.
