How URA Intercepted Fake Shs189m From Nairobi

Details have emerged how Uganda’s tax body, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) intercepted people transporting fake Ugandan currency to the country from neighboring Kenya.

Social media has been awash with reports of how URA made the intercept of the fake notes disguised as dog food.

Below is what URA posted of the operation on its Facebook page

Customs authorities at the Busia border have today morning intercepted a one Wahib, a conductor of Bus Car heading to Kampala from Nairobi with counterfeit Ugandan currency amounting to 189.1M Ugx concealed as dog food.

Upon being busted , Wahib informed the investigations team that a one Sarah gave him the “goods” to be delivered to Swaib in Kampala.

In collaboration with our counterparts in Kenya, Sarah has been arrested in Nairobi and the hunt is on for Swaib.

We strongly condemn such practices. Offence management has ensued. The suspect is being transported to Kampala for further investigations.
