UK Company To Construct Standard Post-Harvest Facilities In Uganda

A team from Uganda led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), Pius Wakabi Kasajja Wednesday had fruitful discussions with Alvan Blanch in the United Kingdom as part of the UK-Africa Business Summit.

Alvan Blanch is a global company which is working with the UK Government in supporting Uganda to increase access to standard Post-Harvest Management Equipment and Value Addition Solutions for Grains, Fruits, Cassava and Tea.

In May 2019, MAAIF signed an MOU with Alvan Blanch and Colas Ltd to improve post-harvest processing systems in the Country.

A statement by Agriculture Ministry says the joint venture between Alvan Blanch Development Company and Colas Limited will manufacture, supply, install and commission multiple post-harvest processing systems.

“The memorandum of understanding was also to include delivery of related trainings and construction of associated infrastructure,” the statement adds.
