Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday witnessed the signing of an aircraft acquisition agreement between state-owned Uganda Airlines and U.S. plane maker Boeing (BA.N) that will see the former acquire 10 new aircraft.
“The fleet expansion, which includes passenger and cargo aircraft, will strengthen trade, tourism, and investment, and position Uganda as a key regional aviation hub,” Uganda’s State House wrote in a post on X.
The agreement is worth 3.7 trillion Ugandan shillings ($984.64 million).
Finance Minister, Henry Musasizi said this development “marks a major step in expanding Uganda’s aviation capacity and strengthening global connectivity.”
“The fleet expansion, covering both passenger and cargo aircraft, will boost trade, tourism, and investment, and position Uganda as a key aviation hub in the region,” he posted on X.
