The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) on March 25, 2025, hosted the Muslim community for a special iftar dinner.

The Director General of the UCAA said that  the dinner was a speciala moment of reflection, unity, and spiritual renewal in this blessed month of Ramadan.

At last year’s Iftar dinner, Fred Bamwesigye made a commitment that “this gathering would become an annual tradition with UCAA hosting the community members to share the little that Allah has blessed us with.”

Today, he said, “We witness the fulfillment of that promise. This event has become a cherished occasion, allowing us to share in the blessings of Ramadan while strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood within the aviation fraternity.”

“Ramadan teaches us discipline, empathy, and communal harmony. It is a time to support one another, extend kindness, and uphold the highest standards of integrity and service. As professionals in the aviation sector, let us embody these values in our work, ensuring they reflect in our interactions, service delivery, and overall commitment to excellence as we continue to grow Uganda’s aviation industry,” said Bamwesigye. “I am aware that the State House in Entebbe is also hosting an Iftar dinner this evening, which may have affected attendance at our event. However, I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you who has made the effort to be here tonight. Your presence speaks to the strength of our UCAA Muslim community and the importance of solidarity in this blessed month. I extend my sincere gratitude to the organizing committee, whose tireless efforts have made this evening a success. Your dedication ensures that this tradition continues to flourish. To all our Muslim staff members, your contributions to UCAA are invaluable, and we deeply appreciate the diversity and richness you bring to our institution.”

Bamwesigye emphasized UCAA’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment that respects and celebrates the cultural and religious diversity of our workforce.

“As a result of everyone’s commitment, the aviation industry continues to register growth in traffic. Permit me to share with you some brief statistics. In February 2025, Entebbe International Airport registered 74,417 arriving and 86,618 departing passengers, a total of 161,035 in February 2025, which is an average of 5,751 passengers per day. While this figure was lower than the 6,991 passengers per day recorded in the previous month of January 2025, it is still above the pre-pandemic figures, a clear sign of progress. The Muslim fraternity contributes greatly to the airport’s passenger traffic, especially during the Hijja period and Umrah. Many of you are also prominent businessmen and traders who frequently use the airport’s facilities. We highly appreciate your patronage,” said Bamwesigye.
