Tanzanian Hospital Grapples With Oxygen Shortage As COVID Bites

Coronavirus infections in the country are on the rise

A hospital in Tanzania’s Mwanza city has reported a oxygen shortage as the country records new coronavirus cases.

The officer in charge of Bugando hospital, Fabian Masaga, said there had been an increase in the usage of oxygen.

He said the hospital and the government were making arrangements to increase supply.

Dr Masaga urged the public to follow all guidelines put in place to reduce the spread of coronavirus so as to avoid overwhelming the health system.

President Samia Suluhu has been urging the public to be vigilant and observe all health guidelines.

Tanzania had stopped publishing Covid infections data but in June gave some updates as the government urged people to start wearing face masks.
