Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) Director-General Deusdedit Kakoko (pictured) has been arrested over alleged embezzlement of 3.6bn Tanzanian shillings ($1.5m; £1m).
The newly-elected President Samia Suluhu recently read the auditor’s latest report, saw that the money was unaccounted for and ordered country’s anti-corruption bureau to start an investigation.
Mr Kakoko was suspended on 28 March.
