One person has died and two others injured after they were buried by soil at a construction site at Mbiro Zone, Kafumbe-Mukasa Kisenyi II on Friday.
The deceased has been identified only as Kato while two unidentified people were rushed to the Doctors’ Clinic, Mengo.
One of the survivors, Godfrey Bukenya, says at the time of the incident, the three were excavating soil at the site.
“We were around fifteen working on this site. Others have run away after rescuing the victims, three had started earlier than us, otherwise, no one would have survived here. Bukenya said.”
Salim Uhuru, the Kampala Central Mayor, said the construction engineer, who is on the run was ordered by KCCA to halt construction.
Engineer Eria Luyimbazi, the KCCA Deputy Executive Director, says that the construction site is unsafe because of the deep excavation.
The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that they have started hunting for the site engineers.
