National Water Assets Hit Shs1.2trn

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) assets have hit Shs1.2trillion, Business Focus reveals.

This was revealed by Eng. Silver Mugisha, the Executive Director at NWSC while meeting employees of Kampala Water at the Information Research Centre (IREC) in Bugoloobi over the weekend.

He noted that the Corporation’s assets have increased to Shs1.25trn today, up from Shs600bn three years ago.

He added that NWSC is currently billing Shs30bn today, up from Shs14bn in 2014.

He however noted that millions of money are still lost in non-revenue water which has increased lately.

Mugisha warned the staff against corruption, noting that cases of staff colliding with members of public to steal the entity’s property still persists.

He gave an example of water pipes worth Shs40m that were intercepted being stolen.
