President Yoweri Museveni
The Parliamentary Committee on Government Assurance wants Parliament to halt the new presidential pledges until President Yoweri Museveni clears old ones.
Addressing the press, the committee chairperson, Betty Nambooze Bakireke and her deputy, Joseph Gonzaga Ssewungu said that old pledges now stands at Shs75 trillion.
Nambooze asked Parliament to allow the current two committees; the Human Rights committee and the Equal opportunity committee which are under NRM party leaders to be given to the opposition to cater for the interest of the people who want their help through them.
She also said that parliament should ensure that parliament is fully constituted by making sure all members are designated to committees.
