Microfinance Support Centre Boss, 3 Others Charged For Embezzling Teachers’ Shs10.8bn

Three Microfinance Support Centre (MSC) top bosses and a Teacher have been charged before the Anticorruption court on charges of embezzlement and conspiracy to defraud government of Shs10.8bn which was a loan fund President Yoweri Museveni gave Teachers in 2011 as a grant.

It is alleged that between November 2019 and August 2020 while in performance of their duties, John Peter Mujuni, the Executive Director of MSC, John Mwebembezi, the Head Finance  and Administration at MSC together with Julia Birungi, the Assistant Credits Officer at the same organisation allegedly stole Shs10.8bn .

The Teacher Joan Asiimwe Baryaruha is alleged to have conspired with the three Staff of Uganda Micro Finance Support Centre to defraud Government of the said money.

They are before Grade One Magistrate Moses Nabende and have pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

Prosecution’s Stanley Baine has informed court that investigations in this case are not yet complete and applied for an adjournment to another date.

The accused persons through their Lawyers are now applying for bail.
