MEGA BOOST! Health Ministry Flags Off Distribution Of Non-medical Items Including Food, PPEs To Quarantine Centers

Uganda’s Health Ministry Permanent Secretary, Dr Diana Atwine on Wednesday, flagged off non-medical items to institutional quarantine centers in 30 districts across the country.

The items were received as donations from various stakeholders in support of the COVID-19 response. Currently, there are 1,103 individuals under quarantine.

Each center will receive; 50 mattresses, 50 blankets, 50 pairs of bedsheets, 500kgs of maize flour, 15 cartons of wheat flour, 50 pieces of washing basins, 40 litres of cooking oil, 250kgs of beans, 14kgs of salt, 250kgs of sugar, 30 cartons of drinking water, 4 cartons of washing soap, 2 cartons of bathing soap, 15 litres of Jik, 20 litres of hand sanitizers, 150 pairs of hand gloves, 30 pieces of nose masks, 160 liters of detergents and 250kgs of rice.

The items will go a long way in helping those in quarantine centers deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

Diana also received a donation of Personal Protective gear for health workers from the National Fellowship of Born Again Pentecostal Churches worth Shs3.1Bn

She said the donation will strengthen the confidence of medical workers at the frontline.

Uganda has 126 cases of COVID-19 with 55 recoveries and no deaths.

The country’s nationwide lock down is set to end next Tuesday and the President, Yoweri Museveni is expected to address the nation on the way forward.
