Makerere Ban From University League Not Official Yet – Peninah Kabenge

Makerere University has not yet received official orders from the organisers of the University Football League on the ban imposed on the inaugural league winners, says Peninah Kabeng, the head of sports at
the university.
“I officially wait for the communication that is making rounds on the social media,” Kabenge said in an interview.
According to a ruling circulated on Monday morning, Makerere University was suspended by the Disciplinary Committee from the competition with immediate effect over what was termed as ‘continued indiscipline by their fans.’
The Disciplinary Committee found Makerere University fans responsible for causing the game in Busitema University against their team on 12th October 2017 to be called off after they attacked and provoked Busitema University fans prior to kick-off.
Makerere University had already qualified for the knockout stage at the top of Group A but will now miss the remainder of the season and next season.
The Disciplinary Committee comprises veteran administrator Bernard Bainamani, retired referee Davis Katabira and coache’s trainer Haruna Kebba.

“I wasn’t in Busitema and we need to make an independent investigation before I comment on anything,” Kabenge added.
