Kwania Based School Yet To Receive Museveni’s Pledge 16 Years Later

 President Yoweri Museveni

Ikwera Girls secondary school in Kwania district wants President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to fulfil a pledge he made to the school 16 years ago.

In 2006, the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) used a Lorry Reg No. UG 0753G belonging to Ikwera Girls SS to transport soldiers to their training wing in Ibuje sub-county in Apac district.

The truck broke down beyond repair. President Museveni consequently pledged to purchase a new school bus for the school to compensate for the lorry that broke down while doing government work.

Odongo Aloysius, the headteacher of Ikwera Girls SS, says that the school has not yet received the bus from the government 16 years after the pledge by the president.

He says that they are currently grappling with transport challenge, something which he says has hampered the progress of the school.

Betty Omara, the chairperson of PTA of Ikwera Girls wants the district leadership to follow up on the matter.  Geoffrey Alex Ogwal, the Kwania District LC V Chairperson says that the district received a circular indicating that money to that effect would be wired to their account in June last year but it hasn’t been received yet.

Canon Richard Ogwang Odyero, the Kwania outgoing RDC said the matter has not yet reached his office. He has pledged to follow up with the Office of the President.
