Human Rights Boss Med Kaggwa Dead

The head of Uganda Human Rights Commission Med Kaggwa has passed on.

According to reports, Kaggwa fainted in his car on Wednesday morning and was rushed to Case Clinic in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

The incident is said to have happened near Mulago. According to an eye-witness, the car had to be broken into to remove him, the reports add.

At the time of his death, Kaggwa had served as chairperson of Uganda Human Rights Commission for more than eight years. Kaggwa was rushing to United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) offices for a media round table discussion.

He was also Commissioner and Special Rapporteur on Prisons and Conditions of Detention of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and a Commissioner of the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission.
