Gov’t Eases Lockdown: 200 People Now Allowed To Attend Prayers, Weddings & Political Rallies

The Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng has revealed latest Government considerations for phased lifting of the lockdown.

Addressing the media this evening, Aceng said that mass gatherings for prayers, political rallies, meetings and weddings shall now be attended by not more than 200 persons, up from 70.

Open cinemas, gyms, massage parlors and mobile markets shall also resume operations effective November 14,2020.

“Casinos and gaming outlets may resume operations after fulfilling conditions included in the SOPs beginning November 14, 2020. Hours of operation will be restricted to 6:30am to 7:00pm. Curfew and other areas not mentioned remain as is,” the Minister said.

“Considering the phase of the epidemic Uganda is in, with rising cases and deaths in urban areas, suspension on bars and discotheques will continue,” Minister Aceng said.

Results of COVID-19 tests done on 08 November 2020 confirmed 171 new cases. The cumulative cases are now 14,574. One new COVID-19 death was recorded in Kampala. The total COVID-19 deaths are now 133.
