EC, Police & Presidential Candidates Agree To Use Dialogue Not Confrontation During Campaign Period

EC officials in a meeting with representatives of Presidential Candidates and officials from Police

The Electoral Commission on Tuesday held a consultative meeting with representatives of all eight Presidential Candidates and officials from the Uganda Police Force to review the first week of campaign activities.

All parties agreed that any concerns should be addressed through dialogue, not confrontation, to keep the campaign period peaceful and orderly.

Below is a statement issued by the EC after the meeting;

Following a consultative meeting held on today (Tuesday), the Electoral Commission met with representatives of all eight Presidential Candidates and officials from the Uganda Police Force to review the first week of campaign activities.

The discussion focused on emerging issues, maintaining peaceful and law-abiding campaigns, and ensuring that all activities follow the harmonized programme and electoral guidelines.

All parties agreed that any concerns should be addressed through dialogue, not confrontation, to keep the campaign period peaceful and orderly.

The Commission appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders in supporting a smooth and credible electoral process.
