COVID-19: 11 Afghanistan Returnees Test Positive As Uganda’s Cumulative Cases Rise To 889

 The Ministry of Health has confirmed 19 new COVID-19 cases from 2,170 samples tested on 29 June 2020. All the 19 are Ugandans.

“11 of the confirmed cases are returnees from Afghanistan who were under quarantine at the time of test,” the Ministry said in a statement signed off by Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa, the Director General Health Services at Ministry of Health.

Seven of the confirmed cases are from Amuru district while one is from Kyotera.

“All were contacts to previously confirmed cases,” the Ministry added.

The Ministry added that total confirmed COVID-19 cases are now 889.

 Covid-19 Recoveries are now 819, the Ministry said.

Additionally, 25 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 and were handed over to their respective countries.
