CCBU Returns With “Why Does Coke Taste So Good In Glass” Campaign

Science has shown that glass bottle soda is often perceived to taste better because glass is considered an inert material, meaning it does not react chemically with the soda, preserving its flavor and carbonation better than plastic or aluminum cans, which can leach chemicals into the drink, subtly altering its taste; this is primarily due to glass’s impermeability to gases, ensuring the carbon dioxide stays dissolved and the fizz remains consistent over time.

In the past years, plastic bottles became the thing, largely taking over from glass bottles as the primary packaging for soda, primarily due to their lighter weight, lower production costs, and greater ease of transportation, leading to a widespread shift in the beverage industry towards plastic bottles.

Last Saturday, Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) returned with a campaign to revamp glass bottle soda sales.

From the City Centre, Wandegeya Traffic lights and at Eso Corner, CCBU deployed disruption as a strategy to amplify the message: Why Does Coke Taste So Good In Glass.

This was accompanied by acrobats, music and dances, biking, and street sales.
