Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has revealed that a man that is trending on social media for his selfless act of rescuing people who were drowning in Bundibugyo floods on Saturday is their staff.
Earlier reports had indicated that the man in question was a Policeman attached to Uganda Police Force.
However, UWA says identifies the good Samaritan as Corporal Agaba Hannington, a Community Conservation Ranger in Semliki National Park.
“We celebrate Corporal Agaba Hannington a Community Conservation Ranger in Semliki National Park for this selfless act of putting others first. Responding to community needs is what we stand for at UWA in whatever we do,” UWA said in a statement posted on its official facebook page.
Ugandans on Twitter and Facebook say Agaba should not only be promoted, but also rewarded because he put his life at risk by rescuing others.
Bisoro Andrew said: “May God bless you Agaba Hannington. You are a hero to us the mountain people.”
Mbabazi Harriet said: “Am proud of you Hannington . Thanks for being selfless.”
Maurice Lamot said: “He has to meet the president and also get a medal.”
Its a good thing that Ugandans are starting to recognize the real heroes, Ugandans used to celebrate thieves who have built mansions and
bought expensive Japanese or German cars
Such people should be recognized for a job a welldone.
