Aviation: Uganda Signs Search & Rescue Agreement With South Sudan

Uganda has signed a Search and Rescue (SAR) Agreement with South Sudan.

According to Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), the agreement will greatly improve on compliance of both countries.

It spells out roles of both countries in situations which require support for one another in the unfortunate event of an aircraft accident or incident.

Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Katumba Wamala, who signed the agreement on behalf of Uganda, applauded his counterpart,  Madut Biar Yel, Minister of Transport in the Government of South Sudan (who signed on his country’s behalf) for the support and cooperation.

Gen. Katumba added that government of Uganda is “committed to ensuring support for our brothers and sisters in ensuring that the SAR requirements are in place.”

A technical team from UCAA that has been to Juba will continue to render any necessary support.
