ADF Rebels Kill Congolese Soldiers

Three Congolese soldiers have been killed while repelling an attack in the eastern Beni region by Ugandan Islamist Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels, who are accused of killing 14 UN peacekeepers from Tanzania in December, the BBC reports.

At the weekend, the DR Congo announced an offensive against the group which was created in the 1990s to oppose Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s rule.

The Ugandan army has been conducting airstrikes and attacks against the group.
