Absa Bank Staff Wins Car In Bancassurance Campaign

A staff of Absa Bank Uganda Wednesday morning returned home driving after winning a car, a gift from her employer and Jubilee Insurance.

Four months ago, the Wangula Emotoka Bancassurance campaign, a brainchild of Jubilee Insurance to encourage staff from their banking partners to increase the uptake of the insurer’s products, was launched.

Announcing the winner at the Bank’s head offices in Kampala, Musa Jallow – the Director Retail – said Enid Zawedde Tayebwa, Customer Experience Executive at Absa Kampala Road Branch – delivered at least 25 insurance policies and Shs100 million in Annualised New premiums in the four months.

Other winners included any referring bank staff in Kampala that brought in at least 8 policies and Annualised New Premiums of at least Shs40 million. These walked away with shopping vouchers worth Shs500,000.

Additionally, referring staff from the bank’s up-country branches who brought in a minimum of 6 policies and at least Shs30 million in Annualised New premiums also received shopping vouchers worth Shs500,000.

Absa Bank Executive Director and Chief Finance Officer, Michael Segwaya congratulated the winner and Jubilee saying: “We are looking forward to greater partnerships.”

“We need to do business. The world we are in is about partnerships,” Segwaya added.

Jubilee Chief Executive Officer – Kumar Sumit noted that the winner earned the gift because of her hard work and determination.

“She earned it. It’s is commendable,” Kumar said, adding: “Unless you are convinced about selling something, you can’t sell it. Insurance penetration in this market is about 1%. We have listened to Absa Bank and our customers and we will launch two new products soon to address issues that came up. The policies will be more flexible.”

While receiving car key, Tayebwa said: “I am so happy and excited.”
