Many opposition supporters were arrested ahead of the elections
The US State Department says it’s considering a range of targeted options against members of the Ugandan security forces it holds responsible for abuses against opposition candidates and civil society.
The run-up to January’s election was marked by a series of deaths, arrests and detentions of opposition supporters, including Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine, who was contesting the presidency.
Bobi Wine abandoned his challenge to the result of the vote on Monday, saying the Supreme Court was biased in favour of President Yoweri Museveni.

Infact we as Ugandans, need help to be rescue from the inhuman treatment of this government.
We could be patient over corruption and lack of transparency by the NRM government but when it reached to killings and kidnaps, we appeal to the international community that please help us to remove this dictatorial government.
In fact very few of the human rights violations during elections of January 14 2021 were published especially in rural areas for example in sub county where I voted from – Nabigasa sub county in Kyotera district, at polling station ” Bulyana Mosque “, in Kyassimbi parish, the parish supervisor Mr Kalyango Vincent, presiding officer and the polling assistants, were were beaten by soldiers who came on a double cabin and asked them as to why president Museven was deafeted at that polling station.
They (soldiers) filled other declaration form giving more votes to Museveni. All the polling officials were teargassed, beaten and their phones taken.
Please help us, we also admire democracy and peace.
