The Uganda Police have dismissed online reports that the ex-spokesperson, Emilian Kayima has gone missing.
Social media sites have been awash with reports that Kayima has been missing since Friday last week and that a search for him had begun.
However, when we spoke to the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, he describe the reports as fake.
Kayima was appointed police spokesperson in 2017 by the former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura.
He is now part of the office of the Chief Political Commissar headed by Asan Kasingye.
Kayima’s career timeline
- 2004: Quit teaching and joined Uganda police
- 2005: Was passed out as an officer. Later to Katwe Police Station as the officer-in-charge of the Child and Family Protection Unit (CFPU)
- 2006: Became an assistant superintendent of police.
- He was then appointed the head of the Crime Prevention Desk, Kibuli
- Appointed acting head of CFPU
- 2011: He was appointed Kampala Metropolitan Political Commissar
- Appointed a liaison officer at the Land Protection Unit
- 2012: Kayima was promoted to the rank of senior superintendent of police (SSP)
- 2016: Appointed KMP spokesperson replacing Patrick Onyango.
- November 2017: Former IGP Kale Kayihura appointed him Uganda Police spokesperson replacing Asan Kasingye.
- January 2018: Fired
