  1. Hi,
I am Uganda born and have a Uganda birth cetificate, I am based in UK
I am applying for OCI India and Indian Embassy in UK have asked for the following.

Note for birth certificate of countries not part of Hague Convention (Uganda): If the document was issued by a country which is not part of Hague Convention 1961, then the document will have to be first attested by the authority concerned in that country (Uganda) followed by re-attestation by the Indian Mission in that country to make the document (Uganda) acceptable. If document is not in English language, then it has to be translated by an authorised translator. (Not to beattested / apostilled by High Commission of Uganda in UK)
Apostillation of a document is different than attestation. Apostillation is the process of authenticating a public document for international use, specially for countries that are part of the Hauge Convention of 1961.

    2. Kindly note that it is mandatory requirement as per the rules governing OCI.

    Can you help?

    Many Thanks
