Diamond Trust Bank Uganda (DTB) announced at the Uganda Bankers’ Association Conference Tuesday that they will be offering Mastercard’s premium card payment solutions in the country, which includes the Mastercard Gold Debit Card and Platinum Credit Card.
DTB will be the first issuer of Mastercard credit cards in Uganda.
Dr. Tumubweine Twinemanzi, the Executive Director for Supervision at Bank of Uganda was the Chief Guest for this launch.
Premium bank customers that qualify for the two card solutions will be able to use their payment cards at acceptance locations across the country, as well as millions of locations around the world, or for online purchases.
Card holders will have peace of mind that their payment cards are protected by Mastercard’s global standard in security, with both cards enabled with EMV Chip & Pin technology.
“The introduction of the debit and credit card solutions is in support of introducing innovation to the banking sector, enhancing the consumer experience and boosting payment security for the benefit of all citizens,” said Varghese Thambi, Managing Director, DTB.
Cardholders will open up a world of rewards when becoming a Gold or Platinum member.
These include special offers when traveling locally or abroad, as well as memorable experiences, including spa, dining and entertainment offers and access to Mastercard’ Priceless Cities platform.
Both Mastercard Gold and Platinum cardholders can access all benefit information through the Mastercard For You App; the app can be downloaded by customers through the App Store and Google play.

The roll out of the solutions is in line with the Bank’s Digital strategy. DTB currently provide multiple digital channels such as Mobile Banking, Internet Banking, Mobile Merchant Payment services (PAYEASY), Digital Tellers (Intelligent ATMs) in addition to Digital Lobbies at branches.
