Uganda has one of the best coffees globally
Uganda is set to showcase her Arabica and Robusta coffees at the World of Coffee Expo scheduled to take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) early January 2022.
According to Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) Managing Director, Dr. Emmanuel Iyamulemye, the Authority has received an invitation from the organisers of the Dubai Coffee Expo to participate in the World of Coffee Expo to be held from 12th to 14th January 2022 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The World of Coffee Expos is the largest innovation, education and coffee commerce which has been growing for the last six years from 3,000 visitors and 45 exhibitors to 10,945 and over 240 exhibitors.
As part of the promotion, Dr. Iyamulemye says “UCDA has secured an exhibition booth of 18m2 which has cupping area and exhibition space. We plan to operate a coffee bazaar, and conduct cupping sessions to promote Uganda’s Arabica and fine Robusta coffee potential.”
UCDA is calling upon coffee processors/ exporters/ roasters to to exhibit their products during the Expo.
In a letter dated December 20, 2021 to all coffee processors, exporters and roasters, Dr. Iyamulemye says participants are expected to meet the costs for travel, Covid tests and accommodation.
“…the Authority will support the participants in processing visas to UAE,” UCDA boss says.
In 2020, Uganda was ranked the 3rd country with best coffee globally. This was based on coffees from around the world that were harvested from 2010 to 2018 and graded by 1,229 professional tasters certified by the Coffee Quality Institute.
