Uganda Launches HIV Self Testing Kit

Uganda has officially launched the HIV self testing kit in a move aimed at helping all Ugandans know their HIV/AIDS status.

Launching the kit on Wednesday in Kampala, Dr. Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Health said that “the kits will ease your access to your HIV results anytime, anywhere, alone or with any one you may be comfortable with.”

She added that the kits will be available for free in government health facilities and on sale in private pharmacies.

Statistics show that about 14% of people that live with HIV/AIDS don’t know their status.
