Jennifer Bamuturaki, the Acting Uganda Airlines Chief Executive Officer during the interview
The Acting CEO of Uganda Airlines, Jennifer Bamuturaki has described the first two international flights to Dubai as a huge success, promising to compete favourably against the giants.
She made the remarks during an interview to mark the official launch of the Dubai route on Saturday at Dubai based Occidental Hotels and Resorts. She noted that the airline managed to have over 80 passengers onboard on the maiden flight to Dubai on October 4, 2021 while the second flight on Friday October 8, 2021 attracted over 200 passengers. Uganda Airline’s Airbus has capacity to carry 258 passengers and 18 tonnes of cargo.
“We were overwhelmed by the numbers on the second flight. We listened to our customers and gave them what they wanted,” she said, adding that many traders have already embraced Uganda Airlines.
A number of traders were seen flying out of Entebbe International Airport with cargo including matooke, pineapples and mangoes among other items.
Bamuturaki said the airline will compete with giants in the aviation industry by offering competitive fares and services.
The launch was graced by Fred Byamukama, the State Minister for Transport, officials from Transport Ministry and Ugandan Embassy in the United Arab Emirates.
We’ll keep you posted about the ongoing celebrations in Dubai about the launch of this new route.
