Uganda police have arrested two men after they allegedly set fire to T-shirts with the image of President Yoweri Museveni on a street in the capital, Kampala.
They were found at Luwum Street in Kampala where they had set National Resistance Movement-NRM party-T-shirts ablaze. Two of the suspects escaped arrest. Wabulembo told reporters at Kampala Central Police Station that their demonstration was a sign of frustration in the NRM government and its attempts to abandon the presidential age limit to allow President, Yoweri Museveni to seek another term of office.
“We are fed up of this government full of corrupt individuals. We say no to removal of age limit by anyone,” Wabulembo said. Emilian Kayima, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson declined to comment on the matter, saying he was in a meeting. Recently, government tabled the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2017 in parliament for consideration.
