Strong winds have blown off part of
the roof top of Stanbic Bank branch in Fort portal municipality, URN reports.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon following a heavy down pour that
lasted for about an hour.
According to our reporter, the wind blew off the roof of the behind part of the
building.
The front section that is occupied by the tellers wasn’t affected.
However, customers were barred from accessing the banking halls.
Efforts by our reporter to speak to Stanbic Bank authorities in Fort Portal
were futile as none of the officials were ready to comment.
The winds also brought down a billboard in Kisenyi along Fort Portal –
Bundibuyo road, which hit a building that houses a motorcycle show room
belonging to a one Baguma.
However, nobody was injured in both incidents.
Rev Willy Kintu Muhanga, the Mayor Fort Portal Municipality told our reporter
that the building which houses Stanbic bank is one of the oldest in the town.
Muhanga said they are going to task the municipal engineer to inspect the
status of buildings and billboards in the municipality to ensure they are in
good status.
