Sarah Kagingo Elected New PRAU President

Sarah Kagingo (in featured photo) has been elected the new Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) President, beating off competition from her closest rival, David Birungi.

PRAU brings together PR practitioners in the country.

The voting exercise during PRAU’s Annual General Meeting held Saturday at Fairway Hotel in Kampala.

Kagingo replaces Standard Chartered Bank’s Cynthia Mpanga, who has been President since 2016.

Kagingo, who is also the Secretary General of Independent Online Journalists Association-Uganda (INDOJA-U),  is a Public Relations and Communications consultant.

She has previously worked at State House as a Special Presidential Assistant for Communications.

In her address after the victory, Kagingo said: “We’re finally here and I have nothing but heartfelt gratitude for your support, for the faith you have in me and for your votes. You’ve  made the bold and right decision to vote #Kagingo4President and I’d like to use this opportunity to thank you very much.”

She added: “And so the journey begins. The journey to put into action every item on our manifesto. I thank my contender David Birungi for a vibrant campaign. Will need David and each one of you for a vibrant PRAU. I congratulate the new Governing Council on being elected and thank the outgoing GC for their contribution to PRAU.”
