Roofings Group Donates Wheelchairs to Support Children With Disabilities

Roofings Group has donated wheelchairs to support children with disability at the on-going Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Conference organized by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, happening at the Imperial Resort Hotel, Entebbe.

The wheelchairs being donated are a product of a workshop whose construction was supported by Roofings Group in 2023 as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. This workshop, built in partnership with Kyaninga Mobility, continues to serve the nation by producing sustainable, easy-to-fix wheelchairs made right here in Uganda.

“Our chairman is committed to undertaking impactful CSR projects that inspire other brands to invest in similar initiatives,” said the Roofings Corporate Affairs Manager. “The wheelchairs being donated today are a testament to our dedication to creating lasting, positive change in our community. “Said Stuart Jason Mwesigwa, Corporate Affairs Manager from Roofings Group.

As part of Roofings Group’s efforts to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the donation of the wheelchairs reaffirms the company’s dedication to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 5: Gender Equality, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities. The five wheelchairs were presented to children with disabilities by Roofings Group’s Corporate Affairs Manager, in the company of Rt Hon. Rukia Nakadama Isanga, Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio during the conference.

Commenting on the donation, Stuart Jason Mwesigwa said, “Roofings Group is committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we operate. Supporting the CBR Conference aligns with our belief in creating a more inclusive society, where every individual has access to the resources they need for a better life. Our donation of wheelchairs is a small step toward achieving a society that ensures equal opportunities and empowerment for all, particularly persons with disabilities.”

Roofings Group’s partnership with Kyaninga Child Development Centre emphasizes the company’s ongoing support for projects that promote health, accessibility, and social inclusion. By contributing to both the CBR Conference and providing wheelchairs to those in need, Roofings Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering sustainable development within Uganda.
