Speaking to journalists, Mawanda said the Bank came up with the initiative targeting public universities given the challenges the institutions go through during the Ramadhan season. These challenges he said is related to proper feeding during the fasting season. He said that while the mosques may have a small budget (if at all), it may not be sufficient and thus the need for support.

While the initiative started with three public universities this year, Mawanda said the plan is to involve more public universities next year.
