Blocked: MP Lutamaguzi
Police in Nakaseke district have blocked the Nakaseke South Member of Parliament (MP) Paulson Luttamaguzi Ssemakula from donating an assortment of items to Kapeeka Health Center III.
According to Luttamaguzi, after various complaints by the medics about the dire state of the facility and lack of proper mattresses and beds, he promised to help them. On Friday, the legislator moved to the Health Center with an unspecified number of mattresses and beds but was barricaded by the police.
When he asked the Officer in Charge of Kapeeka Police Station why he was being denied access to the health center, the officer reportedly told him he had received orders from above to not allow him to access the facility. According to Luttamaguzi, the OC asked him to channel the donation through the district leadership, something he didn’t want.
Asked about this development, the Acting Savannah regional police spokesperson, Patrick Lule told URN that the legislator was actually not denied access to the facility but they advised him to follow what he termed as the rightful procedure to channel his donation through the district leadership, which he refused.
