Tropical Bank has embarked on a massive drive to give back to the Muslim community countrywide during the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
The bank officials have been visiting mosques across the country to support them. The bank has donated food items to 18 Mosques in Kampala and a combined 12 in Mbarara, Masaka, Mbale, Kaliro, Kakira and Jinja.
Some of the Mosques that have already benefitef from this initiative include Kamwokya Mosque, Masjid Tawhid – Kawempe, nMasjid Salaam – Ntinda, Masjid Kauthar–Ntinda, Masjid Mandela – Nabugabo, Masjid Saad – Kisenyi Bus Terminal, Kirolo Mosque – Semuto Rd, Masjid Jamia – Mutungo, Masjid Kameze- Luzira, Masjid Jamia – Katwe, Bunamwaya Mosque – Bunamwaya and Masjid AbubakarSwidiq – Kiwatule.
According to Dr Sulaiman Lugya, the Head of Islamic Banking at Tropical Bank, bank focused mainly needy mosques across the country.
The bank’s Managing Director, Dennis Kakeeto noted that as part of Tropical Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility, the bank will continue to focus on key strategic initiatives including giving back to the needy.
The Muslim Community form 68% of Tropical Bank’s customer base.
“Our Commitment remains firm and solid. We shall continue to listen, and develop life changing products like TropiHijja that specifically transform the lives of the common Muslim in Uganda,” Kakeeto said.
Tropi Hijja is a Conventional Product, regulated by Islamic Principles, that aims to enable Muslims save between six months to 10 years towards fulfilling the 5th Pillar of Islam which is Hijja or Umra.
On Friday, Hajji Nasul Tumwesigire of Maasjid Saad at Kisenyi Bus Terminal welcomed Tropical Bank’s timely initiative and encouraged them to continue with the same spirit for years to come.
Imam Ali Mahamood Ssebambulidde of Bunga Hill Mosque also thanked Tropical Bank for their commitment to the needy Muslims.
