Parliament has approved Shs292.3bn supplementary budget for different government agencies amid some MPs objecting to the clearance of Shs12bn meant to compensate six individuals.
It should be remembered that parliament had on Tuesday stayed the passing of the budget after receiving complaints from the chairperson of Uganda Land Commission, Beatrice Byenkya Nyakayisiki that her commission never requested for these funds.
The vice chairperson Patrick Isiaghi informed parliament that the committee after scrutiny cleared the money to be paid out to the six individuals though some Mps continued to contest this position.
The minister of Lands, Betty Kamya noted that other people will also be considered which prompted the speaker to ask that the list of all people that need to compensate is tabled.
Parliament also passed the Shs18.5bn to purchase COVID-19 vaccines.
