Mysterios Kampala city tycoon and socialite, Jack Pemba is in trouble for his alleged involvement in money laundering and drug trafficking. Pemba was picked up at Entebbe Airport on Sunday evening and is currently being held at Nalufenya Police facility in Jinja.
Local news agency, URN reports that Police spokesperson, Asan Kasingye, could neither confirm nor deny the arrest, but hastened to add that he is aware of the ongoing investigations against Pemba.
“While I was at Interpol we got information that he was involved in money laundering and we had begun looking into it,” Kasingye said.
URN adds that for the last one year, the Financial Intelligence Authority has been following Pemba’s financial transactions. Sydney Asubo, the Director Financial Intelligence Authority declined to comment on the matter.
