Muntu: Security Impunity & Harassment Of Bobi Wine Leading Uganda Closer To Breaking Point

The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Presidential Candidate, Retired General Mugisha Muntu has warned that the continued mistreatment of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, a Presidential Candidate under the National Unity Platform (NUP) could lead Uganda into trouble.

“The impunity with which security operatives are operating in the continued harassment and now arrest of @HEBobiwine is leading this country closer towards a breaking point. We join

@NUP_Ug and all fair-minded Ugandans in calling upon his immediate release,” Muntu said on his official Twitter handle.

Kyagulanyi was arrested before he could start his campaign meeting in Luuka. He is accused of having more than the 200 supporters recommended by the Electoral Commission.

Reports indicate he’s being detained at the famous Nalufenya detention centre.

Following his arrest, a number of Ugandans called for his unconditional immediate release.

In Kampala, Bobi Wine’s supporters have been teargassed  while trying to protest his arrest.
